Fiberglass is a tough, weather-resistant material. We use it to keep exteriors maintenance-free and combine it with beautiful wood interiors. The combination of these materials make our windows and doors rigid yet lightweight for easy operation.
For over 100 years Andersen has used wood for strength and rigidity in their frames and sashes, beauty for the interior, and its overall thermal performance. Each wood product is clad to resist the elements and provide a low-maintenance exterior that never needs painting.
A material that is 2x as strong as vinyl, performs better when exposed to extreme temperatures and delivers exteriors that won't fade, flake, blister, or peel. It's called Fibrex® material. Fibrex is made up of reclaimed wood fiber and a thermoplastic polymer that is fused together and is unique to Andersen.
Awning windows are hinged on the top and open outward from the bottom, allowing for ventilation and protection from the rain. Often placed higher on walls for privacy or in combination with large stationary windows for a better view.
Bay and bow windows are created by combining three or more windows together so that they angle out beyond the house wall. They can be casement, double-hung or picture units depending on the need. By using more windows, bay and bow windows allow more light in and also give you extra space inside your room.
Casement windows are hinged on the side and crank open outward to the left or right allowing for full top to bottom ventilation. Common above kitchen sinks, casement windows give you the flexibility to group them in stunning combinations.
Gliding windows operate in a horizontal fashion to allow for full top to bottom ventilation. Because the sash do not open outward they are an excellent choice for rooms that face walkways, porches or decks.
Double-Hung windows have two operating sash that move up and down allowing for ventilation on the top, bottom or both. Single-Hung windows allow ventilation through a single operable lower sash. Both offer easy cleaning from inside your home and remain flush with the wall, making them ideal for patios or walkways.
